A small atelier and archive in Guizhou, working with Miao silversmith families to keep hand-forged silver documented and in circulation.
Silver Forged Gui collects hand-forged Miao silver — headdresses, necklaces, chest and garment ornaments, hand jewelry and vessels — and keeps it as a working archive. Pieces are acquired from silversmith families in Guizhou, registered on arrival, and offered to collectors, museums and designers.
Every piece is treated the same way. It is filed under its catalogue number, photographed, and issued with its craft documentation and certificate. Nothing is sold unseen: what you browse in the collection is exactly what the archive holds.
The forging of Miao silver ornament is inscribed on China's national intangible cultural heritage list. Craft of this kind survives only when the pieces themselves are kept, documented and allowed to circulate — which is the reason this atelier exists.
